Welcome to Soapbox Junkie, my blog for opinions, manifestos, observations, reflections, recollections, and jokes. I’d like to operate it as an open forum for rants about the absurdities of life.

The name came from an admission I made recently while applying for a job as Director of Communications for a nonprofit public advocacy group. A soapbox junkie is a writer (aspiring or professional) who simply can’t pass up any opportunity to sound off. We love to start arguments just to exercise our verbal skills. I think that description fits most writers.

Yes, I’m a writer, which is an ideal occupation for over-articulate misanthropes. I’ve been making my living with words for 25 years, but this is my first official blog. I have no preconceptions or delusions about what this blog may or may not achieve. My only standard for success right now is enjoyment.

So, feel free to indulge your caprices as I indulge mine.
